About Reboot 2019
It’s time for our third annual fall Reboot at Four Oaks Killearn, a time when we come together as a church family and reset our focus as we head into the fall. Our theme this year is “Rooted.” Inspired by Colossians 2:6-7, we’ll be coming together seeking to root ourselves in Christ in the Word, in Worship, in Marriage, and in Parenting as our pastors teach different tracks based on these four topics.
This makes Reboot 2019:Rooted a bit different from previous years. You will decide in advance which track you’d like to take, and sign up on our registration form. This will help us plan for each track.
We will of course first gather for food and fellowship in the lobby before breaking out into our tracks. Children through 8th grade will have classes and activities after dinner, and can be registered on the same form where you choose your track.
Reboot 2019: Rooted will be held on Wednesday nights, August 21, August 28th, and September 4th from 6:00-8:00 PM here at Four Oaks Killearn. Our first Reboot on August 21st will be a good ole’ potluck dinner! We’ll provide dinner on August 28th and September 4th.
August 21: Potluck (plan to bring your family's favorite main dish and a side dish!)
August 28: Pizza (provided)
September 4: Hot Dog Bar (provided)
We’re looking forward to a great time with each other in the Word at Reboot 2019: Rooted!
Rooted in the Gospel to Worship: It’s More Than Just Music
What does the Bible have to say about worship? It’s easy to equate worship with music, but isn’t it more than that? As we head into the Fall, we need a fresh Biblical perspective to lead a life of true worship. In this study, we’ll look at how God defines the life of a true worshiper to see how that impacts our everyday lives.
This track is led by Joe Haverlock. Recommended book: Engaging with God by David Peterson
Rooted in the Bible: Why We Believe, Receive, and Trust the Bible
Why do we believe the Bible is God’s Word? How did the church come to accept the Bible as its authoritative canon? And, can we trust that the actual words of the Bible are accurate and reliable? Join us as we tackle these and related questions together.
This track is led by Paul Gilbert. Recommended book: Revisiting the Canon by Michael Kruger
Rooted in Christ in our Parenting
Parents, are you feeling pressure to do everything "right" and raise up "good" children? It's easy to lose sight of our ultimate purpose as parents in the quest for practical tips and guaranteed formulas. Rather, we need the rescuing grace of God—grace that has the power to shape how we view everything we do as parents. Join us as we discuss a big-picture view of God's plan for us as parents that encourages us to embrace a Christ-centered perspective of parenting overflowing with vision, purpose, and joy.
Recommended Book: Child Proof: Parenting by Faith, Not Formula by Julie Lowe
Rooted in Marriage: Re|Engage
Re|Engage is a 15-week marriage enrichment program that helps couples understand God’s design for marriage, apply His Word to their lives, and grow in their relationships with God, with one another, and with other couples in a similar station of life through large-group teaching & small groups led by mentor couples. Re|Engage launches the 3 weeks of Reboot and continues for 12 Monday nights through Dec 8. In addition to completing the Reboot form, couples must register with Re|Engage and pay for the workbooks. The link to the official Re|Engage form will be provided after you register below.
This track is led by Scott & Julia Stake and 6 other mentor couples.
