Whatever You Do Camp Wrap-Up
By Shannon Pifer
If you could have been the proverbial fly on the wall last week at Four Oaks Killearn, you might have:
Seen children painting a wall
Heard “Smoke on the Water” on guitar, organ, & drums
Seen a rocket taking off
Met a baby alligator
Smelled cookies baking
Seen gyotaku being created (look it up, it’s very cool!)
Watched a game of GaGa ball (look that up too!)
Smelled sweaty children
Heard lots of laughter
All of that could only mean that Whatever You Do Camp 2019 was in full force! We had a blast doing all of the above and so much more with 100 or so children and 60+ volunteers who helped make it all happen.
We spent the week learning about creation from Genesis, and so many of our track leaders were able to tie in some of those themes to their track activities. We had children planting seeds and observing animals and creating plant and animal art. We all learned that God creates, and because we are created in His image, we were made to create as well! Our children created music and food and art, and we hope they’re continuing to create those things using some of the new skills and knowledge they learned at Whatever You Do Camp!
We’re so thankful for everyone who helped with our camp, from our middle and high schoolers who jumped in to help, to all of our adult volunteers who gave a week of their summer to be a part of our camp, to those of you who stocked our volunteer snack bar, to our amazing track leaders who poured so much into planning and executing such an impactful week for our kids. Thank you all!
The few pictures below provide just a snapshot of our camp. We’re already looking forward to next year!
